Five Tax Deductions You Can Benefit From If You Live in Valencia

40 Regional Deductions Available

If you live in the Valencian Community, there are a whopping 40 regional tax deductions available this year. Spain's income tax campaign runs from April 8 to June 30 — here are five of the most useful deductions for your 2025 return.

1. Gym and Health Services

You can deduct up to 30% of gym and sport expenses, up to a maximum of €150 per taxpayer, provided your total taxable base is under €32,000 (individuals) or €48,000 (joint filing). Greater deductions apply if you're over 65 or disabled.

Qualifying expenses include:

• Gym and sports club memberships
• Mandatory equipment for federated sports
• Sports coaching services
• Physiotherapy, podiatry, dietitian and traumatology services
• Psychology sessions — 30% deductible up to €100
• Prescription glasses and contact lenses

2. Renting Your Main Home

One of the biggest new deductions this year. The general deduction is 20% of rent, up to €800. If you're under 35, have a disability of 65%+ or are a victim of gender violence, this rises to 25% up to €950.

Requirements: lease dated after April 23, 1998 with minimum one-year duration. Taxable income must not exceed €30,000 (individual) or €47,000 (joint).

3. Flood Repair Costs

For those affected by the devastating floods of October 29, 2024, a special deduction covers 100% of repair costs for damage to your primary residence, up to €2,000. Applicable for the 2024 and 2025 tax years only.

4. Family Deductions

If you had a baby or adopted a child in 2025, you can deduct up to €300 per child — provided you earn under €27,000 (individual) or €44,000 (joint). There are also deductions for:

• Childcare for children under three
• Work-life balance
• School supplies
• Fertility treatment costs

5. Energy Efficiency and Rural Living

Deductions are available if you made your home more energy efficient in 2025 — such as installing double glazing or adding insulation. If you moved to a municipality at risk of depopulation during last year, additional benefits apply.

Even if you're not sure whether a deduction applies to you, it's worth checking with your gestor. With 40 deductions available, there's a good chance you're leaving money on the table.
