Salmonella Alert: Carrefour Beansprouts Recalled Across Spain
Do Not Eat — Return or Discard Immediately
Spain's Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) has issued a recall for Carrefour Classic germinated beansprouts (glass jar) after Salmonella contamination was detected in the product. The recall was issued on April 30, 2026 and distributed through Spain's rapid alert system (SCIRI).
The product was distributed nationwide across Spain. Consumers are instructed not to consume the product and to return it to the point of purchase or dispose of it immediately.

Salmonella Symptoms
Symptoms of Salmonella infection typically appear within 6 to 72 hours of consuming contaminated food and include:
- Diarrhoea
- Vomiting
- Fever
- Abdominal cramps
- Weakness
Vulnerable groups — including young children, older adults, pregnant women and immunocompromised individuals — face a higher risk of serious complications. Anyone who has consumed the product and is experiencing symptoms should seek medical advice.
What to Do
If you have purchased Carrefour Classic germinated beansprouts in a glass jar with batch number L-12Q03, do not eat them. Return the product to the Carrefour store where it was purchased for a refund, or dispose of it immediately.
This recall is the latest in a series of recent food product alerts in Spain involving ready-to-eat items. Spain's overall recall rate remains within normal EU levels.
