Drivers in Spain Can Now Get Up to €5,500 Off a New Car — Immediately at the Dealership

Up to €5,500 Off — Right at the Dealership

Spain has launched a new car grant scheme called Plan Auto 2030, and the key improvement over previous programmes is straightforward: drivers receive the discount immediately at the point of sale, rather than having to wait months for a reimbursement after purchase — the frustrating process that characterised the old MOVES III scheme.

The maximum saving for a passenger car is €5,500, made up of €4,500 in public aid combined with a mandatory €1,000 discount from the dealership. The scheme is already live and retroactive to January 1, 2026 — meaning purchases made from that date qualify.

Full Breakdown of Discounts

  • Passenger cars: up to €5,500 (€4,500 public + €1,000 dealer)
  • Electric motorbikes: up to €1,100
  • Electric quadricycles: up to €1,500

Who Can Apply

To qualify, vehicles must:

  • Carry the CERO environmental label
  • Meet specific energy efficiency standards
  • Be below the maximum price limits set by the scheme

The scheme is open to both private individuals (one vehicle per person) and businesses, which can apply for multiple vehicles.

When Will It Be Fully Operational?

The digital platform to process applications is expected to be fully operational between May and June 2026. A total of €400 million has been allocated for the programme this year. The aim is to encourage cleaner transport, reduce pollution, and accelerate Spain's transition towards more sustainable mobility.

For anyone already considering a new CERO-label vehicle, it is worth checking with your dealership now — purchases from January 1, 2026 are eligible for the discount retrospectively once the platform goes live.
