June Temperatures Arrive This Weekend: Spain Weather Forecast April 16-19
30°C on the Way This Weekend
Large parts of Spain are set to hit 30°C over the next few days, bringing a decidedly summery feel to the weekend — temperatures more typical of June than mid-April. According to Aemet (Spain's national meteorological agency), high pressure will dominate most of the country through to Sunday, delivering clear skies and rising temperatures across the south, east and centre.
Thursday April 16
Daytime and nighttime temperatures will increase across most regions, reaching approximately 26-27°C in Murcia and Andalucia. Mostly clear and sunny conditions are expected across the south and east, though the far north and west will see heavy cloud cover for much of the day.
Friday April 17
The warm pattern continues with sunny skies across mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands. Temperatures will rise by another degree or two in most locations, pushing further into the high twenties across the Mediterranean coast and southern interior.
The extreme northwest will experience cloud cover and occasional showers, but the rest of the country can expect a dry and pleasant day.
Saturday April 18
The warmest day of the long weekend. Mostly clear skies with some high cloud are forecast for the majority of Spain, though northern regions will remain cloudier.
Light rain is expected in the Cantabrian Mountains and Pyrenees, with Aemet noting "abundant cloud development during the day with light showers inland, locally moderate and accompanied by thunderstorms in the mountains."
Daytime highs will be approaching 30°C in most of the far south — well above the seasonal average and firmly in early summer territory. Nighttime temperatures remain mild, making it comfortable to be outside well into the evening.
Sunday April 19
High-pressure dominated settled weather continues across most of the country. Mostly clear skies with some high cloud, except in the north where conditions remain overcast and showery. Minimal temperature changes are expected — so another warm, sunny day for the south and east.
What to Expect by Region
- Andalucia and Murcia: The hottest spots, approaching 30°C by Saturday. Clear skies throughout
- Valencia, Alicante, Costa Blanca: Sunny with highs in the high twenties. Ideal beach weather
- Madrid and central Spain: Warm and sunny, mid-to-high twenties
- Balearic Islands: Sunny with pleasant temperatures, slightly cooler than the mainland south
- Northern Spain (Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria, Basque Country): Cloudier with showers possible, particularly in the mountains. Temperatures more moderate
- Canary Islands: Typically settled conditions with temperatures in the mid-twenties
