Santa Pola Opens Registration for Its Popular 10K Summer Night Race
Santa Pola's Favourite Summer Race Is Back
Registration is now open for the 10K Santa Pola Summer Race, one of the most popular running events on the Costa Blanca South calendar. The race takes place on the evening of Saturday, June 6, 2026, with a 9:00pm start — timed to make the most of the cooler night air and the unique atmosphere of running through a lit-up coastal town after dark.
The event is organised by Santa Pola Athletics Club in partnership with Santa Pola Town Hall and is open to both federated and non-federated runners — meaning no athletics club membership is required to take part.
The Route
The race starts on Avenida Pérez Ojeda, near the town's working fishing port, and follows a flat urban circuit through some of Santa Pola's most scenic areas:
- Along the seafront promenade
- Past the town's beaches
- Through the port area
- Into the downtown streets
The flat course profile is intentional — it is designed to give runners of all abilities the chance to compete for personal bests, not just survive a hilly route. If you have been looking for a fast 10K to set a PB, this is a strong candidate.
Race Night Atmosphere
This is not a silent early-morning jog through empty streets. The organisers have built a festival atmosphere into the event:
- DJs positioned along the route provide live music throughout the race, keeping energy levels high for both runners and spectators
- The nighttime setting transforms the town — running past the illuminated port and along the lit seafront is a very different experience from a daytime road race
- The event has established itself as a social occasion as much as a competitive one, drawing both serious runners and those taking part for the experience
Prizes and Awards
For competitive runners, there is serious prize money on offer. The Dr. Soler Traumatology Clinic Grand Prize awards €1,000 each to the first male and female finisher who breaks the event record.
Beyond the record prizes:
- Trophies for the top three overall finishers (male and female)
- Category prizes for age-group winners
- A dedicated disabled category with its own awards
What Every Finisher Gets
All registered participants who complete the race receive:
- An official event shirt
- Bras del Port brand salt — a nod to Santa Pola's proud salt-producing heritage
- A participation medal
- A towel
Registration Details and Pricing
Registration is open now on the official race website and closes on June 3, 2026 at 10:00pm — just three days before race night.
Entry fees are tiered, so the earlier you register the less you pay:
- Early bird rate: €17 — available to the first 500 runners to register
- Standard rate: €23 — applies once the early bird places are gone, with the price increasing gradually as the race date approaches
If you are planning to enter, registering sooner rather than later is the obvious move — both to secure the lower price and to guarantee your place before capacity is reached.
How to Register
Head to the official 10K Santa Pola Summer Race website to sign up. The process is open to all, with no requirement to hold a Spanish athletics federation licence. Whether you are a regular road racer, an occasional 10K runner or a complete newcomer looking for a memorable first race experience, the Santa Pola night race is well worth putting in the diary.
