Cirque du Soleil Returns to Alicante This Summer with KURIOS — July 16 to August 23
KURIOS Brings Steampunk Wonder to the Alicante Beachfront
Cirque du Soleil is returning to Alicante for its sixth visit to the city, with the acclaimed production KURIOS — Cabinet of Curiosities running under a Big Top at San Juan Beach from July 16 to August 23, 2026.
KURIOS is set in the mechanical laboratory of an eccentric scientist — a steampunk world where hidden dimensions and impossible curiosities come to life through breathtaking acrobatics, theatrical spectacle, and visual invention. Since its premiere in Montreal in 2014, the show has played to over 6 million people across 40 cities worldwide.
Six Times and Counting
Alicante has become a regular stop on Cirque du Soleil's Spanish touring circuit, and this summer's run continues a relationship that now spans six productions. The location — a Big Top pitched directly on San Juan Beach — is part of what makes the Alicante dates stand out: few touring shows anywhere in Europe combine world-class performance with a seafront setting quite like this.
Itxaso Barrios, International Markets Marketing Manager for Cirque du Soleil, said the company was "delighted to bring KURIOS to Alicante," describing it as "a very special moment" and adding that the production carries "so much energy that you can't help but leave feeling that anything is possible."
Alicante councillor Nayma Beldjilali welcomed the return, saying the show "places us on the cultural circuit where our city deserves to be" and calling it "a major tourist attraction" that generates "excitement and anticipation with thousands of spectators filling the Big Top."
Part of a Wider Spanish Tour
Alicante is one of several Spanish cities on the KURIOS 2026 tour. The full Spanish run also takes in:
- Seville
- Bilbao
- Málaga
- Barcelona
- Madrid
For residents of the Costa Blanca and wider Alicante province, the San Juan Beach run is the obvious local option — and a summer evening under the Big Top by the sea is a difficult proposition to turn down.
