80 Arrested Across Two Nights

A major operation by the Policía Nacional targeting drug trafficking in Benidorm's nightlife district has resulted in 80 arrests across two separate nights. Officers stated that "the establishments under investigation were being used for retail drug dealing."

The first night of operations led to 53 arrests, followed by a further 24 arrests on the second night. Days later, two brothers who operated several leisure venues and a security manager were additionally arrested. One main suspect remains at large.

What Was Seized

During the first night of the operation alone, officers seized:

  • Cocaine, ecstasy, marijuana and cutting agents
  • Over €32,000 in cash
  • 40 walkie-talkies and 16 mobile phones
  • 6 pepper sprays and 1 brass knuckle
  • 2 magnetic drug-hiding boxes

Machetes and knives were also seized during the operation, alongside evidence of coordinated intimidation of police officers using nicknames and surveillance systems.

Seven Venues Inspected

A total of seven leisure establishments were inspected as part of the operation. The central suspects included two sets of brothers — one pair who operated several of the venues, and another pair managing security and public relations for the establishments.

The operation involved three agencies working together: the Policía Nacional, Benidorm Policía Local, and the Policía Nacional unit attached to the Generalitat Valenciana.

All Released Pending Court

All 80 detainees were released pending court proceedings. The investigation remains open. The operation reflects the continued focus of Spanish law enforcement on organised drug distribution networks operating through the nightlife and hospitality sector in tourist resort areas.
